Here we go again! We are back with another Burgers for Breast Cancer fundraiser in support of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, and this year, the BBQ features the perfect burger for the cause... the Salisbury House Nip! We've learned a lot in previous years' events, and our goal is to continually keep improving to make each year an even stronger and more successful effort for the cause. This year, our hopes couldn't be higher.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in our lives—and our world—experiencing unprecedented hardships. People who've been diagnosed with, or are at high risk for breast cancer, have found themselves in a uniquely difficult, and often scary position since the pandemic began. Worries over if it's safe to go to medical appointments, or if screenings should be postponed. Treatments being delayed, or changed. Not being able to have the full support network of in-person family and friends. Virtual after-care. Increased risk of serious COVID-19 complications. Deciding whether to go ahead with only a portion of a surgical procedure, as 'elective' parts, such as reconstruction, were postponed. The list goes on.
There has been a lot of fear, uncertainty, and negativity as a result of the pandemic. The world hasn't, at times, seemed the kindest place. After the past year, it couldn't be a better time to get involved with putting something good back into it. With this year's Burgers for Breast Cancer event, there are multiple ways to make a difference to someone suffering in an already difficult time.
So, what are the details?
WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Drive-up Burgers for Breast Cancer fundraiser, with all donations supporting CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Donations (min. $5 suggested) will give you a voucher for a Salisbury House Cheese Nip (various options available, including gluten-free), packaged to go, with condiments, napkins, drink and donut. You will also receive an entry ticket for the prize draw.* A tent will be set up for donation tax receipts for any donation over $20. We will also have a professional DJ providing the soundtrack to a summer day, and an oversized Polaroid frame for selfies/photo ops where you can show who you're donating for.**
* Winners will be announced on the RE/MAX Professionals social media platforms. Please follow our Facebook and Instagram pages to see the results!
** If you take a selfie with the Polaroid frame, we encourage you to share it on social media with the hashtag #forthenip. There will also be a professional photographer on site to capture images from the event. By taking part with the Polaroid frame, you consent to your image potentially being taken and/or shared online/in future marketing material.
WHEN?
Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
WHERE?
RE/MAX Professionals front parking lot at 1601 Buffalo Place. Directional signage will be displayed, however to reduce the potential for traffic hold-ups, we encourage visitors to enter through the east side (Beaver St.; coming from Pembina/McGillivray) and exit through the west (toward Waverley). You are welcome to step out of your car once in the parking lot.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Make a donation! One easy way to donate is by clicking here and doing so online! Other options: To move through the Nip line most efficiently, feel free to print off this donation form and bring it along. Don't worry if you don't have a donation form with you when you arrive; CancerCare Manitoba representatives will once again be on site to help with your donation and to say thank you! Donations can be made in cash, or by cheque or card. Don't forget to grab your prize ticket and your Nip voucher after donating!
Spread the word. The more people attend the event, the more we can raise for a cause that will truly make a difference. The past three Burgers for Breast Cancer events have raised over $13,000; we'd be overjoyed if collectively, we can bring that total closer to $20,000! Feel free to share our Facebook event with friends and family!
Donate a prize. We're thrilled and greatly appreciative of some businesses wanting to contribute gifts toward the cause, which will be on display where we graciously receive donations. If you're a business and are in a position to help in this way, please contact Donnette. Your logo (supplied) will be attached to promotional material and signage beside the prizes. We are thankful for any donations in this regard.
We are incredibly grateful to all our sponsors, donors, and of course Salisbury House, who will be providing the Cheese Nips and pink doughnuts (condiments, napkins, canned pop and chips will also be available). Come on out again, spread the word, and together as a community, we can make a difference. After the past year's difficulties and its impact on healthcare, the impact couldn't be greater to those affected by breast cancer.
Thank you once again; please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions: (204) 477-0500.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
